night 15: st augustine: nobbys (for real this time)

spent the day seeing some cool st augustine stuff.  i also learned a valuable lesson: do not, under any circumstances, buy and eat grocery store sushi that is on sale.  no matter how cheap it is and no matter how much you may be in the mood for sushi, just walk away.

tonight kind of felt like groudhog day a little bit but was real cool non the less.  this venue really takes care of you when you’re a band playing there, which is more than i can say for a lot of places.  also, i managed to grab the first place slot on their “silverstrike bowling” arcade game with a score of 211, which was pretty cool. god i miss bowling.

trunks opened and i jumped in right after.  we were splitting a set tonight.  suprisingly everyone in the place seemed to really be listening again, which is great.  it’s tough to try and rise above the noise of a bar when you’re just one dude let alone make them listen to what you’re saying so i’ll count this show as a win.

also apearing tonight was “street violence” from atlanta…very cool, very different, and a ton of musical talent in this band.  they don’t have a myspace so you’re going to have to take my word for it.  also got to meet an amazing dude named andrew (who is the guy who got us on the show and made sure we had gas money…way above and beyond awesome.) his band was real old punk…think ramones but with a little more intricate guitar parts.  they were called the stiff bindles.

lastly, an amazing songwriter named pj played an absolutely mindblowing set.  you must go listen to him now:  myspace.com/superfamicom

packed up and promptly passed out in the back of the van headed south into the heat and the rain…
