Night 12, Part 2: rock hill, sc: some dude’s attic

…the cops were pretty nice.  esentially they just said that every single neighbor was complaining that it was too loud (which i have to admitt it probably was) and they had to shut it down.  then something happened that i’ve never seen before.

within 15 minutes every person in the room, the PA, all the equipment, and the bands had all packed up their cars, drove to the other side of town, and set the show up in the attic of an empty house so the last two bands could play.  this was singlehandedly the greatest act of show/scene organization i’ve ever seen.  props to the rock hill kids.

the next two bands were real cool.  mike gentry’s band “candy jerk” played first followed by “one big vice.” the second bands singer chris is an amazing dude.  might of been the beer or the fact that he’s just this crazy…but he played the first half of his set completely naked (minus his guitar.)  this was especially nuts since the house we were in had no heat and it was about 35 degrees outside.  towards the end of their set they did a cover of american girl which was a great opportunity for me to put my arms around some strangers and sing tom petty lyrics as loud as i can…anyone who knows me at all knows that this is definitely my jam.

went to bed around 4 after another round of waffle house food (always a mistake.)  i felt good.  i felt like tonight mattered.
